I came across this interesting article by Mike Fugliuolo of thoughtLeaders, LLC regarding the
necessity and power of clear and concise vision. All organizations, big or small, are well served
with clarity on their direction. Good vision statements do not tell the world everything you hope to
be and/or accomplish when you grow up, but more importantly where you aspire to be in the next
5-10 year window, in as few crisp words as possible. Fugliuolo quotes Pythagoras as saying “Do
not say a little in many words but a great deal in a few.” More of us should heed this advice! Good
vision statements provide Direction and articulate an organization's value proposition with clarity
and concisely.
I believe this article provides some good baseline points for all of us to consider when crafting a
vision for an organization.
Best of luck and, remember, less is more when drafting a vision! |
